Microsoft AI Tour: We have stepped the AI era.
On 23 October 2024, Rome hosted one of the stages of Microsoft AI Tour.
The event, entirely dedicated to artificial intelligence, was attended by business leaders, institutional representatives and Microsoft’s Italian partner ecosystem. Some of the success stories presented included Brembo, Campari Group and Ferrero, which are benefiting from the integration of AI in their business processes.
We had yet another demonstration of how artificial intelligence is having a significant impact on several industries in Italy, improving efficiency, innovation and customer experience.
Indeed, the various success stories presented during the day highlighted how AI can be applied in various sectors to improve business processes, innovate products and services, and offer a new customer experience.
Take two examples
Illimity shared their digital innovation journey based on artificial intelligence. They implemented AI solutions to improve operational efficiency and offer new services to customers.
INPS, on the other hand, presented how they are using AI to optimise internal processes and improve the user experience. The adoption of AI has enabled them to better manage requests and provide faster and more accurate responses.
Among the speakers, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella opened the dances and illustrated how artificial intelligence can drive digital transformation through new ‘tools’ made available to users.
Investments in cloud infrastructure, AI and training are the topics Microsoft has been focusing on for some time now to ensure broad access to this technology.
Autonomous Agents
The announcement of new features in the world of Microsoft Copilot has mainly to do with ‘Agents’.
Agents’ are like new apps, powered by AI, that work autonomously on behalf of a user, team or business function, and execute and orchestrate various processes.
Imagine having to manage the arrival of a new customer within our systems. With ‘Agents’ integrated into Copilot Studio we have a revolutionary new way of handling these requests.
On receipt of an email the agent takes action to handle the request, retrieves information from the email received, investigates to find out if there is any information within the company, notifies the user that he or she needs to be notified and if all this is not enough, will escalate to a human agent.
As the Power Platform teaches us, there are of course hundreds of connectors that will allow integration with any other service.
Totally advanced technology and a data infrastructure that does not have to change because the agent will be the one looking for the information.
There was no shortage of topics concerning the security and reliability of AI and its use.
Julia
Among the various case studies, due mention should be made of Julia, an AI-based virtual city guide to Rome, integrated into Whatsapp. Created on the occasion of the Jubilee, it provides a brand new service for one of the most beautiful cities in the world, providing tourists with an exceptional guide, enriching experiences with information and advice on hotels, restaurants, transport, cultural heritage and much more.
With AI, the possibilities are therefore INFINITE!
The important thing is to learn to exploit them responsibly and consciously, as we have been doing for some time now at CloudiaResearch, starting with the figure presented at the event: ‘generative AI +312 billion GDP in 15 years, and 122 billion euros for SMEs’.
Copilot’s ‘Agents’ represent a significant step towards a future in which machines and humans will collaborate more and more closely to solve and manage complex problems.
The Microsoft AI Tour therefore demonstrated how artificial intelligence is transforming organisations and improving people’s lives in Italy. It is a unique opportunity to explore the potential of AI in the business environment and understand how Microsoft intends to support the digital transformation journey of enterprises.
