When we think of a professional soccer club, our imagination immediately conjures up images of the green pitch, the players, and the fans. But behind every great club there is an organizational machine that has to run just as fast as the athletes on the field. Nowadays, that machine is powered by technology as well.

We interviewed Alessandro Canzi, IT Manager at Como 1907, about how he is tackling the challenges of IT modernization in a historic and ambitious organization. Their business grew rapidly, and the company’s technological infrastructure could not afford to lag behind.

Como 1907 was looking for a “strong Microsoft partner” capable of offering strategic consulting. Technology alone is not enough if it is not properly integrated into business processes.

Looking into the business, we discovered that the club isn’t just made up of people who work in an office behind a desk. Technical staff, scouts, and managers are on the move. The ecosystem was complex and fragmented.

The solution

Focus on governance and security with Microsoft

To meet the need for control and fluidity, we worked with their IT team to implement a solution based on Microsoft Intune.

The goal was not just to “take inventory,” it was to build a strong perimeter of security around the club’s digital identity.

Alessandro highlighted a crucial aspect: “the solution’s effectiveness in a heterogeneous environment.”

It is commonly believed that business management is limited to Windows PCs. In soccer (and in many creative or dynamic companies), the reality is different. Como 1907 needed to manage a variety of devices, including Windows workstations, MacOS machines, and a wide range of mobile devices (iPhone and Android).

Thanks to our approach, we have managed to combine governance (fleet control) with security (data protection), achieving results that, as Canzi himself admits, have been pleasantly surprising in terms of effectiveness compared to previous attempts with other tools.

The work done on workspace management is just the beginning. Soccer is getting more and more data-driven. During the interview, we covered topics that will be central very soon:
